Mortal Kombat 12 roster won’t include The Last of Us‘s Ellie when the game releases later this year. Strange news to report, but that’s what creator Ed Boon had to say to fans who asked for Ellie to be added as a guest fighter.
Why Mortal Kombat 12 roster won’t feature Ellie
There’s no doubt Ellie’s capable of kicking ass and taking names, but Boon has a reason for not wanting to see her in Mortal Kombat 12. He simply doesn’t want to see players performing fatalities on her.
NOPE. I don’t want to see fatalities on her.
I mean … MK12? What are you talking about? https://t.co/hAChXAcC59

Boon’s hardly ever serious but he’s referring to the younger version of Ellie as seen in The Last of Us Part 1. In fact, the suggestion to add Ellie to Mortal Kombat 12 actually came in response to a tweet from Boon in which he said that he agrees with all of Joel’s decisions in HBO’s The Last of Us season 1 finale.
Boon previously revealed that he’s a fan of the TV show and was excited to see the Mortal Kombat easter egg.
As far as Ellie is concerned, the 19-year-old from The Last of Us Part 2 as a guest character in Mortal Kombat 12 doesn’t seem like a terrible idea!
