Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands cross-play will be supported across all platforms at launch, Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford has confirmed. It looks like both Sony and publisher 2K Games came to some kind of an agreement at the last minute because Pitchford tweeted that the development teams had to do “impossible work” to make this happen. Worth nothing that Gearbox’s Borderlands 3 currently doesn’t support cross-play on PlayStation consoles. The feature was set to go live across all platforms but PlayStation was left out because Sony and 2K couldn’t work out a deal (TL;DR version: Sony demands a piece of the revenue pie to allow cross-play).
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands cross-play may have technical hiccups
Pitchford warned fans that Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands cross-play may suffer from some technical hiccups at launch, and asked fans to go easy on the developers. “This is hard stuff and none of the platforms were designed for this,” he wrote. “We’ve done impossible work to make it happen and to try to make it as easy to use as possible, but this is new territory and the wild is not a test environment.”
But what about Borderlands 3 cross-play? The good news is that Pitchford thinks the inclusion of PlayStation is now “inevitable.” The (slightly) bad news is that he doesn’t know when it’ll actually happen.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will ship on March 25 with full cross play for all platforms at launch, including PlayStation. Incredible work from the engineers at Gearbox Software with thanks to our partners at 2k Games and 1st parties, including Sony, for working together on this. pic.twitter.com/J1SV7HgnhW

Opinion: Good to see Sony warming up to cross-play
Zarmena writes… Sony has been behind the times when it comes to features like cross-play so it’s good to see that it’s opening up a little bit. However, it’s imperative that turning off cross-play doesn’t bog down online play. That’s been my biggest gripe with modern multiplayer games. There are times I just don’t want to play with a PC aimbot, you know? At the same time, being able to play with my friends on other platforms is exciting, knowing we don’t have to invest in different brands of similar boxes just to play together.
In other news, The Crew 2 is getting a 60 fps patch for PS5, and EA no longer has to pay a fine for FIFA’s notorious loot boxes.
