The latest racing game from developer Black Rock Studio and Publisher Disney Interactive is coming close to its May 18th release date (22nd for Europe) and looks to employ a widely abused feature. Yes that’s right, the HDD install is back and this time with a vengeance as Split/Second looks to take up an amazing 7GB of space to play. With a lot of high profile games of late coming out and running smooth without an install, it makes you wonder why any game would need one.
So get ready to start freeing up some HDD space, you’re going to need it.

Update
Looks like according to justpushstart, the install for the game is actually 3.7GB and not 7, which should be a bit easier to swallow for a lot of PS3 users out there.
