Final Fantasy XIII has been on one crazy ride since its announcement. The once PS3 exclusive that eventually went mulitplatform has taken plenty of hits for its very long development time. Despite claims by some that the game would sell better on the 360 because of the bigger install base, the game has actually performed better on the PS3 and by twice as much.
According to the latest NPD numbers, the PS3 version of Final Fantasy XIII has moved 828,000, with the 360 version moving a very healthy 493,000 copies. These numbers put the PS3 version at worldwide sales of around 3.6 million copies, with almost 2 million of that coming out of Japan. These are great numbers across the board and might possibly give Square Enix the extra cheddar to finally announce the much demanded Final Fantasy VII remake.
