PlayStation TGS Conference 2017 Preview

Depending on where you’re at, Sony’s Tokyo Game Show 2017 press conference will go down either tomorrow morning or later today. Either way, it’s bound to be an exciting event for PlayStation owners. Sony will likely show off many of their highly anticipated first-party titles, some big Japanese titles from third-party developers, and there’ll probably be some great surprises as well. It’s an event that shouldn’t be missed for any PlayStation fans.

The live stream will occur on September 19 at 4pm JST, which equates to 3am EST (that’s midnight for you North American west coasters). It will be able to be viewed on both Sony’s Twitch channel and on their YouTube account. We’ve embedded a stream below for your convenience, and if you are unable to watch it live (it is in a rough time spot for North American fans) it’ll automatically become an archive of the show so you can watch it first thing in the morning while not being spoiled of the big announcements!

What We'll Likely See

Two first-party titles that are practically locks to show up are Gran Turismo Sport and the Shadow of the Colossus remake. GT Sport is a lock due to it being Sony's biggest 2017 release left, and I'd be shocked if Shadow of the Colossus wasn't shown considering it was originally developed by Team Ico in Japan.
God of War

Considering God of War is out in early 2018, it should be a lock at all of Sony's upcoming press conferences. Expect to see some additional gameplay of the action game.
Surprises

As with any major press conference fans should expect to see some surprises. Since this is for the Japanese market, I'd expect to see something new from Sony's Japan Studio, and perhaps a collaboration from a Japanese third-party developer.
Death Stranding

Will we see Death Stranding? I certainly hope so since E3 felt like a disappointment without getting to see another masterful trailer from Kojima. I'm not sure if it'll show, but if it does I expect that nothing shown will make a lick of sense.
What Not to Expect

Sony has several other press conferences scheduled for the rest of the year, and this includes a Paris Games Week one in October. That's why I wouldn't expect to see Detroit: Become Human and Dreams. Both of those would be better shown off next month.

Additionally, don't get your hopes up to see The Last of Us: Part II here. It's still very early in development, and Sony is likely to hold off on that for either their own show or E3.
Third-Party Titles

We'll likely see a number of major third-party releases as well. I'd expect to see some new Yakuza Kiwami 2 gameplay, and PlatinumGames' GranBlue Fantasy: Project Re:Link make a big appearance.
Final Fantasy VII Remake

Square Enix has the chance to steal the show by showing off some additional Final Fantasy VII Remake gameplay. Do I expect to see it? No, but I've been wrong enough times that it's worth being hopeful about.
