Call of Duty: WWII Multiplayer Will Include a Narrative-Driven Mode, Shared Social Space

Call of Duty: WWII was officially revealed today by Activision and Sledgehammer Games, but for the full multiplayer reveal, you’ll have to wait for E3 2017, which runs from June 13 to 15 in Los Angeles. Following the reveal, E3 attendees will be able to try the multiplayer.

Call of Duty: WWII Multiplayer engages players in grounded, fast-paced combat across many of World War II’s most iconic locations,” the multiplayer description says. “Players will also enjoy exciting new ways to interact and socialize with their friends and the Call of Duty community.”

Here’s a preview of some of the things you can expect from WWII’s multiplayer:

  • War – This narrative-driven mode brings a gripping new layer of excitement to Axis vs. Allies team play.
  • Divisions – A new approach to Create-a-Class and character customization as you enlist in a division and progress through the ranks.
  • Headquarters – A brand-new, social feature for Call of Duty, where you rally and interact with your fellow soldiers.

Game Informer adds that War puts players in two-sides of a single conflict. Using Normandy as an example, one side tries to take the beach, while the other tries to defend it from bunkers.

As for Headquarters, Game Informer adds that it’s a shared social space where players get rewarded, hang out, and interact outside of matches without the typical lobby structure. Here’s the first look:

During the livestream today, the developers said you can expect “well balanced, Call of Duty gun on gun action” in multiplayer.

The Private Beta for WWII starts later this year, and you can pre-order to secure access. The beta will be available first on PlayStation 4.

Call of Duty: WWII releases on November 3 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. You can watch the first trailer over here.
