IO-Interactive Job Listing Hints at New IP

Hitman developer IO-Interacive might be working on an original video game that runs on Unreal Engine according to a job listing on their website. The studio is looking for a Gameplay Programmer for its Incubation and R&D team, which works on prototyping new mechanics. The listing originally said (more on that below) that the team was “working on a new unannounced IP” and that they would be tasked with “[prototyping] gameplay mechanics in Unreal Engine.”

Since it was originally posted, the job listing has since been changed to remove all mentions of a new IP or Unreal Engine. Here’s the original job listing which was spotted over at NeoGAF:

What is the job?

IOI is looking for a talented gameplay programmer to join our incubation team. The team is currently working on an new unannounced IP and is responsible for prototyping different mechanics for the Hitman team. We are looking for a programmer to help the team drive the project forward. This is your chance to work with the best and to put your mark on what we hope is our next big success.

You will work closely with a small team of designers to prototype gameplay mechanics in Unreal Engine. In addition, you will participate in design discussions and help put in place production pipelines.

What is required?

You have solid experience with AI, physics, animation and game mechanics for AAA games and experience from projects on current gen consoles and PC.

You possess profound skills in C++ and have experience with Unreal Engine. You’re well-founded in mathematics and hold solid game design skills and solid understanding of programming best-practices.

There are a number of reasons why the job listing could’ve been changed. It could’ve just been a mistake (after all, IO-Interactive is working on another season of Hitman content), or it was changed since IO-Interactive didn’t want those details out yet. All will be known in due time, and we’ll update the post if any additional information comes in.
