The For Honor Closed Beta has just concluded, and we’ve already got news on the game’s upcoming Open Beta. According to an e-mail from Twitch for its Twitch Prime subscribers, the game’s Open Beta is set to begin on February 9 and will end on February 12. The game is set for release on Valentine’s Day, February 14.
In For Honor, you get to play as a warrior under one of the game’s three factions – The Legion, The Warborn, and The Chosen, which are composed of and represented by Knights, Vikings, and Samurai, respectively. There are currently four available classes per faction – Vanguards, Assassins, Heavies, and Hybrids – with each class under each faction bearing a unique set of skills, weapons, and fighting styles. Ubisoft has said that it plans to release more classes in the future.
For Honor features traditional hack-and-slash elements but also features a tactical combat system the developer is calling “The Art of Battle” wherein players enter a dueling mode in which they can strike an opponent or block an opponent’s attack from one of three directions (left, right, and above). The mode also lets players make quick maneuvers or dodge an opponent’s attacks as well as gives players access to specific skills, attacks, or combos to help them take down their opponent.
While For Honor will feature a single-player campaign, the Open Beta could possibly only give players access to its multiplayer mode of which there are currently five different modes – Dominion, Brawl, Duel, Skirmish, and Elimination – as well as three different multiplayer arenas, one for each faction. The three currently available arenas are called Citadel Gate, Overwatch, and River Fort for the Knights, Samusai, and Vikings, respectively.
