Thanks to the release of big games like Battlefield 1, Mafia III, and Gears of War 4, total industry sales in the United States during October 2016 were up 6% year-on-year to $875.7 million, according to the NPD. Console software was up 31% to $505.7 million, with PC software up 172% to $33.8 million, but hardware fell 20% to $215.2 million and accessories dropped 24% to $121 million.
While the Xbox One was the #1 overall console in October 2016, NPD analyst Sam Naji revealed that the Uncharted 4 PlayStation 4 Slim bundle was the #1 SKU:
The PS4 Slim 500 GB Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End bundle was the month’s best-selling hardware across the category, accounting for 17 percent of total hardware units sold in the month.
Naji adds that Xbox One unit sales rose 8% year-over-year, while the Nintendo 3DS grew for a fifth straight month, with unit sales and spending up 12%.
