In SuperData’s worldwide digital games market report for August 2016, they reveal that No Man’s Sky generated $78 million in its first month across PlayStation 4 and PC, finishing in 2nd on console and 6th on PC. We don’t know how much the PS4 version of No Man’s Sky earned at retail last month, but it did finish in 2nd in the United States.
Overall, the worldwide digital games market earned $6.1 billion, up 11% year-on-year, thanks to successful new releases on all platforms. By category, digital console revenue was up 16% to $399 million, premium PC was up 21% to $401 million, free-to-play MMO was up 8% to $1.41 billion, and mobile was up 16% to $3.04 billion, with Pokemon Go highlighted as a major factor.
