Update: EA has clarified (via Eurogamer) that the Coliseum mode can be attained by earning tickets in the game’s multiplayer and it’s not exclusive to people who bought the products or ate at a particular restaurant only.
Players will earn Coliseum tickets by playing multiplayer…he Mountain Dew and Buffalo Wild Wings promotions are just another way for fans to get tickets to Coliseum mode.
Well, that’s that. Carry on, then.
Original Story: A new Titanfall 2 mode has been revealed in a press release from PepsiCo, the corporation behind Mountain Dew and Doritos. Entitled “Coliseum,” the game type will pit one player against another in a best of three duel. Sounds great, right? Well, there’s a bit of a catch, I’m afraid. Access to the Coliseum requires “tickets,” which are earned with the purchase of specific sponsored products.
Accessible only by Coliseum tickets, this fast, ruthless game mode is determined by the best 2 out of 3 … The winner walks away with gifts and unlockables in the form of Advocate Gifts. Fame and fortune await you in the Coliseum, but only those who come armed with their wits, cunning and Coliseum ticket will taste victory.
PepsiCo has detailed that Mountain Dew and Doritos purchases will come with a chance to win “exclusive titan skins, early access to the Ronin class titan as well as a pilot execution.” Polygon has also confirmed that Coliseum tickets will be available with Buffalo Wild Wings purchases. There’s a chance that double XP boosts will also come included.
It is likely that other companies will participate in these promotional deals, which will hopefully mean for more opportunities to win.
What do you make of Titanfall 2 Coliseum mode being locked away like this?
