In its financial report for the nine-month period ended December 31, 2015, Square Enix said both Just Cause 3 and Rise of the Tomb Raider “made a solid start,” with MMO’s Final Fantasy XIV and Dragon Quest X continuing their strong performances thanks to operation revenue and expansion sales.
These successes helped Square Enix’s Digital Entertainment division see ¥110.1 billion ($936 million) in revenue, up 46% compared to the previous year. In terms of operating income, it was up 64% to ¥23.1 billion ($196 million).
Other titles mentioned favorably in their earnings report include Mobius Final Fantasy, Hoshi no Dragon Quest, and Final Fantasy Brave Exvius for smartphones, and Dissidia Final Fantasy for arcades. Existing games on smart devices and PC, meanwhile, “are continuing to show strong performance.”
Rise of the Tomb Raider released on Xbox in November, moving over one million copies. It came to PC last month, and a PlayStation 4 version is expected in holiday 2016.
