Both Danganronpa PS Vita Titles Combine to Sell Over 200,000 Copies in North America & Europe

The previous title receiving an Editor’s Choice award from us, NIS America President and CEO Takuro Yamashita revealed to MCV that both Danganronpa titles have combined to sell over 200,000 copies in North America and Europe since launch.

Available only on PlayStation Vita, Yamashita says the 200,000 copies sold across visual novels Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa: Goodbye Despair is “quite an impressive number.”

Back in November 2014, he revealed that retail and digital sales of just Trigger Happy Havoc were close to 100,000 in NA and EU, so it appears Goodbye Despair has sold right in line with the first title.

As Yamashita adds, “Danganronpa was definitely the game that made visual novels popular with Western gamers; since then there’s been more coming out. It’s been quite good.” While NISA is known for publishing niche JRPGs like Disgaea, he says the success of Danganronpa will see them “shifting the system towards visual novels.”

Next up for the franchise, the third-person spin-off Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls is coming to PS Vita in North America and Europe this September.

Have you played either of the Danganronpa games?
