The recent announcement of God of War III Remastered coming to the PlayStation 4 got a mixed reception. While some said they were excited to play the award-winning game on their PS4s, others sighed at the news of yet another remaster. The good news is, Sony Santa Monica has taken note of that, and took out some time to explain the reason behind the decision to bring the game to the PS4.
Over on the PlayStation blog, Sony’s Aaron Kaufman responded to a comment about remasters with the following explanation:
We hear you and that’s OK, remasters often help us open the door to new players who perhaps did not play God of War 3 5yrs ago, but who we can bring it to on the PlayStation 4. People often forget, the more players we can bring into a franchise, the better for everyone. At Santa Monica Studio, we’d like as many PlayStation fans to experience our games as possible, from generation to generation.
In case you’re worried that this means we’ll see more God of War games getting the same treatment, you’ll be glad to note that Kaufman has confirmed that there are no plans to bring any other games in the series to the PS4.
Kaufman also reiterated that Sony Santa Monica is working on a separate PlayStation 4 project.
We are working on a PlayStation 4 project, we’ve stated that publicly, we hear you loud and clear.
Do our readers agree with the company’s stance on remasters?
