When LEGO The Hobbit launched last April on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and other platforms, it only covered the first two movies, An Unexpected Journey and Desolation of Smaug, since the final movie, The Battle of the Five Armies, had yet to be released.
While rumors swirled that content based on The Battle of the Five Armies was on the way, Executive Producer Nick Ricks only said in February 2014 that they had plans for it:
At the moment we’re completely focused on making LEGO The Hobbit the best it can be. We know there’s another film coming out, and we’ve got very excited plans about that, but I’m afraid there’s nothing I can say today.
Now, in a statement sent to GameSpot today, Warner Bros confirmed that “there are no plans to develop DLC based on the final film of the trilogy,” and there’s also no plans to release a new game based on The Battle of the Five Armies.
Warner Bros didn’t explain why the DLC isn’t happening, only saying:
The LEGO The Hobbit videogame gives LEGO and Middle-earth fans a fun, new way to experience the legendary adventures of Bilbo and company as told in the first two films of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy. The game provides an excellent set-up for the concluding chapter of Peter Jackson’s film, The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies.
There are no plans to develop DLC based on the final film of the trilogy.
What do you think about Warner Bros having no plans to make any content based on The Battle of the Five Armies?
