Included inside the Assassin’s Creed Unity Season Pass, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China is a 2.5D side-scrolling adventure developed by Climax Studios where you play as Assassin Shao Jun, who previously appeared in the novelization of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations and Assassin’s Creed: Embers.
As Ubisoft revealed to Eurogamer recently, China is the first of multiple entries in the Chronicles spin-off series.
Assassin’s Creed Unity Creative Director Alex Amancio talked about the Chronicles games and how they’ll change with each release:
We really liked the side-scrolling idea, like Mark of the Ninja, and we thought it would be a really great way to explore some of the other universes we’ve created.
One thing that’s really cool is that every one of the chapters of this game will be in the art style representative of that era in time. This is why Shao Jun’s game is like Chinese ink – very black and red.
Once we have other characters and timeframes the art style will completely change to match that specific character.
Amancio was tight-lipped about the follow-ups to China, though he did hint that popular characters may make appearances. “I don’t want to spoil the surprise,” he said, “but the idea is that we have this rich universe – we’re going to use it.”
Who would you like to see star in future Chronicles games?
