At gamescom 2014, Bungie revealed the first Destiny DLC pack called The Dark Below. Coming in December as a timed exclusive for PlayStation consoles, the DLC will have “it’s own story,” Bungie has revealed. Director of Production Jonty Barnes said:
We call it an expansion because it has one of all the activity types from Destiny, so it’s story, strike and beyond—and competitive and cooperative experiences in there. As well as new gear, new armor, new weapons and everything else.
Barnes also said that the DLC’s story will reuse some existing areas from the main game so we may run into players who don’t own the expansion pack.
We always want to create spaces where people can get together and cooperate, and we feel like that is a big innovation in Destiny.
Destiny will hit store shelves on September 9.
