Andrew House: Project Morpheus is the “New Frontier” of Game Development, Developers Passionate About VR

Sony is pinning a lot of hopes on its virtual reality headset, Project Morpheus. The device which allows gamers to experience 3D immersion in the video game world is the “new frontier of game development,” according to SCE CEO Andrew House.

Speaking to the Guardian, House said that the project wasn’t merely an experiment and that the company is putting “significant investment” into it. He further stated that Sony jumped into the project following the interest that game developers showed in virtual reality.

When asked how he thinks the market will respond to the product, he said:

I don’t know, but I think that at the very least it’s going to be another really interesting advance for the PS4 ecosystem and another way to deliver brand new experiences. That’s what we’re all about.

House sounds pretty confident, but it remains to be seen how practical VR headsets will be in our living rooms.
