One game that’s a part of PlayStation’s 25 upcoming free-to-play titles is Guns Up!, which will be releasing for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita (with cross-play!) later this year, courtesy of Valkyrie Entertainment.
In an interview with San Diego Studio Producer Jeremy Ray during the PlayStation LiveCast, nearly 4 minutes of Guns Up! gameplay footage running on a PlayStation 4 was shown, which you can see above beginning at the 1:00 mark, and ending at 5:10.
Near the very end of the video, Ray highlights the fact that Guns Up! won’t be pay-to-win:
There’s not going to be a pay-to-win scheme here. Everyone’s going to have a level playing field, and if you decide you don’t ever want to pay a dime, you’re gonna have the same ability to win matches as everyone else.
But of course, we hope you enjoy the game and support it. If you do decide to support it, you can get shortcuts to other kinds of units faster than the other person who’s just grinding away, and you also are able to have some customization options so… if you want to make your guys look a little bit differently and stand out, those will cost a little bit of money.
But in terms of competitive play, we’re going to make sure that it’s fair, whether you pay or not.
Here’s an overview of Guns Up!:
Guns Up! is a free-to-play strategy game where players take on the role of a General, managing resources and deploying the right combination of troops, land mines, air strikes, and smoke screens to destroy enemy bases and conquer new territories. With Cross-Play, Generals can fine-tune their strategy against opponents with turn-based asynchronous gameplay across PS4, PS3 and PS Vita systems.
