Following its PS4 announcement yesterday (and inclusion in the North American/European Instant Game Collections), some new information about Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition has been revealed, including that Housemarque didn’t handle the PS4 port, but rather Sony XDev Europe and Climax Studios. What this news means is that the other PS4 project Housemarque was working on (Resogun was the first) is still unannounced.
Getting back to Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition, Housemarque confirmed that it would run at 1080p/30fps, as they described on Twitter:
“The original game was coded with 30fps in mind and it would have been near impossible to get 60fps for this reason.”
“[1080p/30fps], simply because the original was designed for 30fps. Making it 60fps would have required almost a complete code overhaul.”
“The original engine wasn’t built for 60.”
Moving to trophies, it’s been confirmed there will be a Platinum in the Apocalypse Edition, and the PS4 version will have a separate trophy list than the PS3 version of Dead Nation. Also being separate from the PS3 version is the leaderboards.
Finally, the Vita version of Dead Nation is being handled by Climax Studios and we should expect news soon.
