Activision Recommends Bizarre Creations’ Closure

Bizarre Creations, creators of Blur and the recent , may have produced their last game. Activision has recently given its latest recommendation regarding the studio, and the outlook is not good.

Talking recently with website Develop, Chief Operating Officer for Activision Worldwide Studios Coddy Johnson stated that Activision is recommending that Bizarre Creations close its doors. This is no doubt tough news for the company, and Mr. Johnson stated that this was definitely the last option that the publisher wanted to pursue:

I want to be clear, our first choice was to try and keep this group together and find a buyer for the studio… This decision comes after a few months of exhausted examination of a number of different options across the board.

Mr. Johnson did go on to emphasize that Activision is providing counselling and other external job placement help during this transition. While the company has “explored plenty of leads” with regards to selling Bizarre Creations, they have yet to find any interested companies. The move to recommend the closure of the studio apparently comes after disappointing sales of action racer Blur, which cost Activision an estimated $40 million USD to produce, an amount that the company did not see returned thanks to the lackluster sales.

Bizarre Creations Bizarre “has indicated it will accept recommendation.” PlayStation LifeStyle would like to extend our condolences to the talented team, and wish all employees the best of luck in their future endeavours.
