Microsoft currently dominates the PS Store best-selling games list, thanks in no small part to its acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Spotted by TweakTown, the list somewhat contextualizes Sony’s struggle to prevent its rival’s purchase of the Call of Duty publisher.
7 out of PS Store’s 25 best-selling games are owned by Microsoft
TweakTown noticed that as of late, seven of PS Store’s 25 top sellers are Microsoft games. It’s worth noting that the list changes frequently based on factors like new releases, prices, etc. Additionally, the list may vary by region. However, titles like Call of Duty remain popular across the board.
Last week, for example, the seven titles that topped the PS Store charts included Call of Duty, Overwatch 2, Sea of Thieves, Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 (thanks to the show), Minecraft, and Grounded. Since Microsoft purchased Activision Blizzard, all seven of the aforementioned games are its first-party titles.
At the same time, five of the top-selling games in the list are published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, out of which two are third-party titles: Helldivers 2 (Arrowhead Game Studios) and Stellar Blade (Shift Up).
There’s a reason Sony’s reportedly still opposing the Microsoft Activision deal along with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission.
