PS Store Accessibility Tags

PS Store Gets Accessibility Tags on PS5 Later This Week

Sony has announced they will be adding accessibility tags to the PS Store on PS5 later this week. The tags will allow developers to describe the accessibility features in their games within the PlayStation Store game hubs.

How to see the PS Store accessibility tags

Once players have gotten into the PS5 PlayStation Store game hubs, players can press the triangle button to view any accessibility tags that are attached to that game. While the tags are only viewable on the PS5 store, they can be applied to PS5 and PS4 games and players can compare the different options between the two platforms.

There will be over 50 different accessibility tags displayed in the PS Store, and Sony gave a quick sampling of some players can expect to see.

  • Visual accessibility features, such as clear text, large text, color alternatives, audio cues and directional audio indicators.
  • Audio features, such as volume controls, mono audio, screen reader and visual cue alternatives.
  • Subtitle and caption options, including subtitle size, clear captions, and large captions.
  • Control options, including button remapping, thumbstick sensitivity, and ability to play without button holds, rapid button presses or motion control.
  • Gameplay options, such as difficulty settings, skippable puzzles, simplified quick time events, and game speed.
  • Online communication options, such as text or voice chat transcription and ping communication.

The tags will be added to the PS Store later this week, although only a few PlayStation Studios games will support them at launch:

  • Days Gone
  • Death Stranding Director’s Cut
  • Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut
  • God of War
  • God of War Ragnarök
  • Gran Turismo 7
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  • Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
  • Returnal

More games will be adding accessibility tags throughout the coming weeks and months. The feature is another accessibility improvement to go alongside features like screen reader improvement added with the last PS5 beta, as well as the upcoming Project Leonardo controller.
