New Castlevania Game Konami Project Zircon

New Castlevania Game Could Be Konami’s ‘Project Zircon’, Fans Speculate

Fans theorize that Konami is working on a new Castlevania game after it was revealed that the publisher has trademarked the name “Project Zircon” in Japan on March 7. This speculation is quite weak, as it is based only on the fact that Zircon is the jewel with the lowest value in the Castlevania series. But fans have other guesses as to what this might be.

Project Zircon could be related to Metal Gear Solid or just NFTs

The “Project Zircon” trademark, as found by Gematsu, is meant for a host of video game mediums. The magazine suggests in a tweet that it could refer to a new Castlevania game, which would fall in line with prior rumors that Konami might reveal a new game in the Castlevania series as well as the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake during E3 2023.

On the (very) optimistic side, some fans responding to the Twitter thread and Resetera think that Project Zircon could mean something about Metal Gear Solid. This is because Zircon (or cubic zirconia) is a fake diamond, and the series features Diamond Dogs. Yeah, we know it’s a stretch.

Others believe that this is just another unfortunate NFT project from Konami, given that it announced NFTs (of all things) for Castlevania’s 35th anniversary in 2022. In fact, one sold for $160,000.

That said, Konami is trying to make a comeback with the Silent Hill 2 remake, other Silent Hill projects, and a remastering of Suikoden 1 and 2. So Project Zircon could be something more than just a NFT or pachinko machine.
