The Witcher 3 PS5 and Xbox Series X versions came with some unusually excessive and realistic nudity, which CD Projekt RED has said was “unintentional.” Apparently, the unintended NSFW content came from the developer using community-sourced mods in the next-gen edition.
CD Projekt RED is working on The Witcher 3 PS5 patch to tone things down
Full frontal nudity isn’t new to The Witcher 3. However, this is the first time female NPCs are seen with pubic hair and visible labia. CD Projekt RED has provided a statement to Kotaku, stating that it’ll be toning things down a bit. The studio’s statement reads:
The next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt features several community-sourced mods not created by CD PROJEKT RED, on top of numerous enhancements created and implemented by the studio internally. Merging everything together was a complex process and the textures in question are an unintended result present in the release version. This is something we are working to address.
I imagine that there will be some backlash from the community over this statement, but fret not, CD Projekt RED isn’t doing away with vaginas entirely. It’s the visible labia and pubic hair that’s being removed.
The studio hasn’t said when the patch will go live.
