More than a hundred games are currently in development for PSVR 2, Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed. This tidbit was tucked away in the ultimate PSVR 2 FAQ, which also details minimum space requirements, Sense controller availability, setup requirements, and much more.
PSVR 2 will launch will over 30 games
The amount of games announced and revealed to be in active development for PSVR 2 shows that Sony is confident about the virtual reality device. A recent Bloomberg report suggested that the company is slashing production estimates based on disappointing pre-order numbers, but Sony denied this.
PlayStation is “seeing enthusiasm from PlayStation fans for the upcoming launch, which includes more than 30 titles such as Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Call of the Mountain, and Resident Evil Village,” Sony told GamesIndustry.biz in a rebuttal to the Bloomberg report. As a result, Sony has “not cut PlayStation VR 2 production numbers.”
Analysts continue to be skeptical about PSVR 2’s success due to its price tag and niche appeal. Some are of the view that Sony needs a robust AAA line-up in order for PSVR 2 to be successful. Sony hasn’t revealed how many of the hundred games in development are first-party titles and/or AAA games.
The PSVR 2 will launch on February 22nd.
