The Last of Us Part 1 sales have started to see a significant spike, thanks in no small part to the successful debut of the HBO TV show. As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, the game re-entered the sales charts with a 238 percent week-on-week sales increase in the U.K. alone.
The Last of Us Part 1 sales were originally off to a slow start
Many questioned Sony’s decision to release The Last of Us Part 1 and termed it a “cash grab,” but it’s evident that the company knows a lot more than the average Joe. The game, which had a pretty slow start commercially, was perfectly timed. Such is the influence of the HBO TV series that The Last of Us Remastered for PS4 also re-entered the sales charts with a 322 percent sales spike in U.K., according to GamesIndustry.biz.
It remains to be seen how well The Last of Us Part 1 performs in the U.S. but we wouldn’t be surprised to see similar results. The HBO show has already broken records and opened up the series to a whole new audience. It certainly helps that The Last of Us Part 1 comes with enough accessibility settings to make it easy for anyone to pick up the game and play.
