GTA 6 Release Not Impacted by Leaks, Take-Two Reiterates

Rockstar Games’ parent company has reiterated that recent leaks have no bearing on GTA 6 release date and development. CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed his disappointment over the leaks but denied reports that any significant assets were stolen. Previous rumors suggested that the hacker, a teenager arrested in the U.K., stole GTA 5 and 6 source codes and attempted to sell them before being taken into custody by the local police in cooperation with the FBI.

When is GTA 6 release date expected to be announced?

Rockstar Games is usually pretty good at keeping things under wraps but reports suggest that GTA 6 is still a couple of years away from release. If that is true, don’t expect the developer to announce a release date or even window anytime soon. Nevertheless, it’s good to know that the leak hasn’t hurt development.

“With regard to the leak, it was terribly unfortunate and we take those sorts of incidents very seriously indeed,” Zelnick said yesterday (via SeekingAlpha). “There’s no evidence that any material assets were taken, which is a good thing. And certainly, the leak won’t have any influence on development or anything of the sort, but it is terribly disappointing and causes us to be ever more vigilant on matters relating to cybersecurity.”
