Various screenshots for the season 1 sneak peek for The Last of Us HBO show have reportedly revealed that the series release date will be January 15, 2023. The simple one-sentence description for the official page of the sneak peek reveals the air date at the end. However, HBO Max has been quick to amend that part. We’ve checked the page again at the time of this writing, but found that the release date was removed. But the company wasn’t quick enough for fans to take a screenshot of the original description.
The release date reveal appears to be a mistake

A tweet of the official screenshot posted above, along with other tweets that corroborate the description, make it clear that the January 15, 2023 date is real. That day would be a Sunday as well, which is a prime slot for HBO Max. That said, the company has since changed the description to “A preview of the post-apocalyptic drama series based on the critically acclaimed video game.”
So either the premium streaming service wasn’t ready to announce the release date or it was an actual mistake, though that would seem to be a huge blunder given the steps of approval a description like that would likely have to go through.
A trailer for The Last of Us HBO show was shown in late September, revealing about a minute and a half of teasers. It was also revealed in October that actress Bella Ramsey, who will be playing Ellie in the show, has not played the game, though she has watched some gameplay footage on YouTube.
