Reliable insider The Snitch claims to have been told by a trusted source that Sony Interactive Entertainment will unveil a brand new PS5 IP within the next couple of weeks, and yes, it’ll be a AAA game. The Snitch revealed the information in their Discord channel, following which another leaker with an excellent track record, TheRealInsider, stepped forward to claim that they’re behind the rumor. Most recently, TheRealInsider accurately leaked all upcoming Assassin’s Creed games and also accurately revealed when new Forspoken gameplay was set to be shown off.

The Snitch claims that today’s State of Play will focus on smaller games so fans shouldn’t get their hopes up. Besides, the aforementioned tweet is only a day old and mentions “2-3 weeks” so we’re looking at an announcement possibly in October here. Worth reiterating that it’s a new IP so once again, Silent Hill fans’ hopes have been dashed.
It’s unclear if the mystery IP is a first-party or third-party studio game. If it’s a first-party game, there’s a chance we’ll finally see something new rather than remakes and remasters from Naughty Dog. Insomniac Games already has its hands full so we can rule those folks out (unless they really are magicians and have another IP going). Santa Monica Studio is also rumored to be working on a sci-fi IP for quite some time and with God of War Ragnarok almost out of the way, here’s hoping we see something new and different from the developer.
