Tomorrow Children Phoenix Edition Microtransactions

The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition Has No Microtransactions on PS5 and PS4

After a historical move from Sony, developer Q-Games managed to acquire the IP rights to The Tomorrow Children. Now they’re bringing it back to PS5 and PS4 as The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition and it will be coming with several improvements so that it remains “playable indefinitely”, including the removal of microtransactions.

Removing microtransactions from The Tomorrow Children is just the start

Q-Games originally intended The Tomorrow Children to be a premium game. Now the developer has had a chance to go back to the drawing board and take a second crack at the game, they’re making several changes to make sure it will remain playable indefinitely. Those changes include the removal of microtransactions and making sure the multiplayer in The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition is no longer reliant upon a central server, this time getting peer-to-peer multiplayer support.

Players who tried the free-to-play PS4 version of the game will notice plenty of new features within the Phoenix Edition on both PS4 and PS5. The game now includes more than 40 islands to explore, mine resources, search for treasure, and rebuild civilization, including multiple new islands. There will also be “never before seen items and new ways to play”. Players who have never tried the game, or those that just need a refresher will benefit from an in-depth tutorial too. Finally, the PlayStation 5 version will come with unspecified enhancements. Game Director and Founder of Q-Games Dylan Cuthbert said:

Today marks an incredibly special day for our team here in Kyoto, as we reveal full details of our game’s revival. The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition seemed an appropriate title for the years-long project we embarked on to resurrect The Tomorrow Children for our fans, who never gave up on the game even after it went offline.

We’ve focused on improvements to help those new to the game get started, made changes based on feedback from veteran players and added in a series of new islands, items and ways to play. This wealth of changes allowed us to rebalance the game in new and exciting ways and I’m already looking forward to visiting player towns when we launch later this year!

In other news, Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 are rumored to be coming soon to PS5 after they appeared on the PSN backend. Elsewhere, Asian players received the wrong amount of compensation from Sony for the PS Plus pricing errors at the end of May.
