The Resident Evil 4 Remake was finally confirmed to exist at the PlayStation State of Play show last week and players were treated to a reveal trailer and a release date. Aside from protagonist Leon Kennedy, some may have recognized a familiar face when we got a glimpse of Ashley Graham. Instagram model Ella Freya has confirmed she will be the face of the US President’s daughter when the game is released next year.

Not long after the game’s trailer had been shown to the world, Freya tweeted she was “almost crying” when she saw the trailer because she was “too happy now“. As noticed by VGC, the Japan-based model later said she was “so glad to join the RE family“. Freya’s exact role in the game is not clear, but it’s likely she is solely Ashley’s character model rather than the voice actor too. Whether renowned voice actor Carolyn Lawrence reprises her role as Ashley’s voice remains to be seen but it seems like the character’s original model Brooke Elizabeth Mathieson is not involved with Resident Evil 4 Remake.
In the original version of the game, Ashley is the young daughter of the US president who is kidnapped when she returns home from Massachusetts. Her captor, Jack Krauser, takes her to a European village where she is held by the Los Illuminados, and it is Leon’s job to find her. Capcom has confirmed Resident Evil 4 Remake will have a reimagined storyline that will keep “the essence of its direction”, but whether we find out exactly what that means before the game is released on March 24, 2023, is still a mystery.
In other news, Sony seems to have capped the PS Plus Premium and Extra upgrade fees for those who had stacked Essential subscriptions for several years. Elsewhere, Summer Game Fest viewers are being advised to keep realistic expectations.
