The much-awaited, fan-requested Assassin’s Creed Origins 60 FPS boost for PS5 and Xbox Series consoles has finally received a release date: June 2. The announcement made on Twitter does not come with a release time or details on how large this patch will be for either platform, but at least we won’t have to wait for the update much longer.
This lays the groundwork for future 60 FPS updates in Ubisoft’s catalog

While fans have asked Ubisoft for the 60 FPS patch for a long time, it took the publisher until late December 2021 on “Assassin’s Creed Day” to state it was indeed “looking into adding 60FPS support.” About five months later, the update appeared on the PSN database as patch 1.60, which will include both a franchise menu and enable a “higher framerate when running on PlayStation 5 console.”
Along with the 60 FPS update for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey that released last year in August, Ubisoft has now set a strong precedent for bringing these patches to its most popular games. As such, this opens the door for more games in the Assassin’s Creed catalog, such as Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, to get a similar frame rate boost in the future. This could even be extended to the broader Ubisoft catalog beyond just this franchise.
This upcoming patch comes right in time before Assassin’s Creed Origins arrives on Xbox Game Pass next week. With Ubisoft+ and Ubisoft+ classics arriving on PlayStation eventually, we might see the game be available through a subscription service on PS5 soon.
Ubisoft has needed some positive news amidst the poor fan reception and turmoil brewing behind the scenes at the company since the start of the year. There was a huge backlash with the announcement of NFTs through Ubisoft Quartz in February, the publisher decided to drop the Tom Clancy name from XDefiant in March, and the Guillemot Family was reportedly desperate in its attempt to prevent the sale of Ubisoft altogether earlier this month.
In other news, a PUBG dataminer claims that publisher Krafton sent a private investigator to their home, and the PS2 classic Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song is being remastered for PS5 and PS4.
