One of the lowest-rated PS5, PS4 console exclusives Godfall is headed to Xbox One and Series X/S nearly a year and a half after launch. Yesterday, Counterplay Games and Gearbox Publishing announced Godfall: Ultimate Edition, which includes the base game along with Primal, Lightbringer, and the upcoming Exalted updates as well as the Fire & Darkness expansion and Ascended Edition. The Ultimate Edition, which will also be available on the PS4 and PS5 alongside Steam, will also include previously-released pre-order bonuses.
Will Godfall Xbox version have exclusive content?
Godfall will have some Xbox Series X-exclusive enhancements like Variable Refresh Rate and Dolby Vision. PS5 currently doesn’t support VRR even though Sony’s new television sets support the feature, especially those recommended for the PS5. In addition to this, Godfall’s Xbox and Steam versions will cost $29.99 for a limited time, which is $10 less than the Ultimate Edition’s standard price of $39.99 that PS4 and PS5 players will have to fork out.
Godfall currently holds a Metacritic score of 61/100. Last December, Counterplay released its Challenger Edition – a budget-friendly, limited-feature edition – as part of the month’s PS Plus lineup. The move was criticized by players as it was the only PS5 game in the lineup and didn’t offer the full experience. However, Counterplay dismissed suggestions that the Challenger Edition was a “trial” of sorts designed to counter Godfall’s dwindling player base.
It’s unclear if Godfall will make it to Xbox Game Pass. If it does, that might give it some much-needed boost in active users. We’ve also yet to hear if Gearbox Publishing will implement cross-play or not. The company recently got Sony’s blessing to enable cross-play in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.
In other news, Hogwarts Legacy may cost $70 on PS5 with no upgrade path for PS4 players, and we want to know what you think about microtransactions in full-priced games.
