Bloodborne sequel

Rumor: Bloodborne 2, Remake, and PC Port Are Not Being Developed by From Software

If you’re looking forward to a possible Bloodborne sequel or remake, don’t expect anything from From Software. A prominent insider has claimed that the studio behind the upcoming Elden Ring is not, nor has it ever, worked on a Bloodborne sequel, remake, or PC port. While it certainly doesn’t eliminate the possibility of one coming out in the future, it’s likely that any possible successor to the franchise will not be developed by From Software.

Who is developing the Bloodborne sequel?

In a ResetEra post, From Software insider Omnipotent stated that they had heard about other projects such as Sekiro, the Demon’s Souls remake, and many other titles in addition to those unannounced. However, they have not heard anything in regards to the Bloodborne franchise during their time as an insider. Additionally, they note that Bloodborne series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki stated that the studio would not return to the Dark Souls or Bloodborne series after the release of Dark Souls 3.

That being said, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the Bloodborne franchise is dead. Unlike the Dark Souls or Sekiro IPs, Sony is the owner of the Bloodborne IP. Furthermore, reports have circulated of a Bloodborne PC port, remaster, and even a sequel currently in the works at PlayStation Studios’ Bluepoint Games. As From Software is technically not developing the rumored titles, these two statements do not contradict each other. On the other hand, given that Omnipotent was aware of Bluepoint Games’ Demon’s Souls remake beforehand, they should have presumably heard of any Bloodborne remake in development as well.

Opinion: Keep an eye out for Bluepoint Games

Andrew writes… I think it’s high time we admit that, if any future Dark Souls or Bloodborne titles were to come out, it won’t be from From Software — and that’s not a bad thing! Bluepoint Games has an impressive track record in both developing and porting games, so it’s safe to say that the franchise is in good hands.

In other news, CD Projekt has released a demo for the PS5 version of Cyberpunk 2077. Netflix recently announced it is working with 2K Games and Take-Two Interactive to produce a Bioshock movie adaptation.
