Despite conflicting reports from industry insiders, the Hogwarts Legacy release date may just hold for Q3 of 2022, according to a new leak.
Why Hogwarts Legacy’s release may not be delayed
Only a few days ago, industry insider Colin Moriarty of the Sacred Symbols podcast claimed to be “hearing behind the scenes” that Hogwarts was “not coming out this year” and was “in some sort of trouble.” However, multiple reports seem to be pushing back against this claim.
Twitter user AccountNGT, a known industry leaker, offers one such report in a new tweet. “As I said a few weeks ago, according to my info, Hogwarts Legacy will be released on Quarter 3 of this year,” the tweet states. “The development is going well.”

Another report that seems to back the leaker’s information comes from the official Warner Brothers Interactive Brazil account. In a tweet thread, they listed out all of their upcoming 2022 game titles and Hogwarts Legacy was among them. While this thread was posted after the rumors of a release date delay started circulating, there’s nothing to suggest it as a direct response.

One further indication that the Hogwarts Legacy release date might hold, comes from an official update to Wizarding World Digital. Within their update this week, they state, “The Hogwarts Legacy video game will be arriving this year,” as a bolded title to their section about the game. However, within the written content of that section, they do say 2022 is when the game “is set to be released,” which could mean anything.
A final indication that 2022 will remain the release date comes from Hogwarts Legacy‘s Community Manager (and former PlayStation LifeStyle EiC) Chandler Wood, who tweeted:

Overall, Hogwarts Legacy does seem to be taking its time in providing further information about the state of the game. Not one official peep has been heard since the launch was pushed from 2021 to 2022. However, at least it seems like the 2022 release date is still going ahead — even if we’re waiting on more details from the Harry Potter game.
