God of War PC version has received universal critical acclaim ahead of its launch and has already climbed up the best-sellers list over on Steam.
As spotted by PushSquare, God of War sits just below Monster Hunter Rise, settling for second position at the time of this writing.
God of War PC version earned a Metacritic score of 93
God of War PC version has fared much better than Horizon Zero Dawn‘s PC launch, which sits at a metascore of 84. While the former also reviewed better than the latter on the PlayStation 4, Horizon Zero Dawn‘s PC outing experienced some technical hiccups despite positive reviews. However, it was Sony Interactive Entertainment’s first major foray into PC releases, and the company endeavored to deal with technical issues promptly. It certainly helps that Sony has since acquired Nixxes Software to work on its PC ports.
Opinion: God of War PC reception confirms there’s a healthy appetite for PlayStation exclusives
Zarmena writes… If Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone weren’t enough to convince Sony that releasing PlayStation exclusives on PC is a good strategy, God of War certainly is. Despite (unfounded) concerns of console owners, the company went ahead with its plans, reassuring players that its exclusives will always release on PlayStation first. But Sony should reevaluate this stance because it can make some much-needed bank from day-and-date PC launches.
In other news, Sony has begun pulling PlayStation Now gift cards around the globe, and PUBG has completed its transition to a free-to-play game.
