Granblue Fantasy Relink Teaser Gameplay Trailer Revealed, Releasing Worldwide in 2022

Popular JRPG franchise Granblue Fantasy just got a new teaser trailer for its upcoming title, Relink. Furthermore, developer Cygames announced that the title will get a global release sometime in 2022 for the PS4, PS5, and PC via Steam. The latest teaser trailer gives fans a glimpse at how gameplay will look, as well as a few of the game’s characters.

Just like last year’s announcement, the worldwide release was revealed at this year’s Granblue Fes 2021. The live stream featured live performances, new updates on existing Granblue games, and merchandise.

Alongside the teaser trailer, Cygames revealed various Granblue Fantasy: Relink gameplay details. Specifically, Relink will be an action RPG with two game modes: a single-player Story mode, and a multiplayer Quest mode that supports up to four-player online co-op.

Furthermore, the Story mode will also have three difficulty levels to choose from. On the other hand, the Quest mode will support both online co-op play as well as single-player with CPU-controlled allies. Cygames also states that the Quest mode will also feature “challenging post-game content”. Currently, there are a total of 11 confirmed playable characters including those from other Granblue games such as Granblue Fantasy VS.

Notably, the teaser trailer also gives fans a first glimpse at Relink‘s detailed facial expressions. Traditionally, Granblue games have mainly focused on a 2D art style. Granblue Fantasy creative director Tetsuya Fukuhara notes that the development team’s goal was “to bring Granblue Fantasy‘s illustration into 3D”.

Initially, Platinum Games was co-developing Granblue Fantasy: Relink with Cygames. However, the company’s contract unexpectedly came to a close back in 2019, with Cygames completely taking over development.
