Call of Duty: Vanguard PlayStation Exclusives Include Seasonal Combat Packs, No Platform-Exclusive Game Mode

Activision has revealed the PlayStation exclusive content Call of Duty fans can expect to receive for playing Call of Duty: Vanguard on PlayStation 4 and/or PlayStation 5. Amongst that content is free seasonal Combat Packs for PlayStation Plus members, similar to previous years, but Vanguard will not have a platform-exclusive game mode for the first time in a couple of years.

PlayStation Plus players will get their first Combat Pack with the start of Season One on December 2. The pack includes an Operator Skin, Weapon Blueprint, and more. Each following season will bring a new Combat Pack with a similar list of content. Those who purchase the Battle Pass Bundle will also get an extra 5 Tier Skips to go with the 20 tier skips already included in the bundle—this means a total of 25 tier skips per season.

Those who won’t be getting the Battle Pass can still make use of two extra loadout slots. To encourage teamwork, those who team up with friends or family who also play on PlayStation will get an extra 25% weapon XP per match. Finally, there will be bonus monthly Double XP events that will last for just 24 hours.

This marks the first annual Call of Duty game that hasn’t included a timed exclusive game mode since the franchise moved away from premium DLC to a seasonal program of free content. Black Ops Cold War has the PlayStation-exclusive Onslaught mode for Zombies, which pit duos against the undead on multiplayer maps. Before that, Modern Warfare had a PS-exclusive Special Ops Survival mode. Both of these were made available on other platforms after a year had passed.

With just a few days to go until Call of Duty: Vanguard is released on November 5, developer Sledgehammer has released a list of changes they have made to the Multiplayer modes following the game’s closed beta. They also unveiled a schedule of in-game events in Vanguard and Call of Duty: Warzone that will lead up to the start of Season One. Those who have preordered Vanguard can already preload it; the download size is around 64GB on PS5 and 55GB on PS4 although both consoles will need around 90GB total of free space to download, install, and run the game.
