Rainbow Six: Siege Crystal Guard Update

Rainbow Six: Siege Year Six Season Three Crystal Guard is Live, Free Access Weekend Starts Tomorrow

Rainbow Six: Siege‘s Crystal Guard update has gone live. The update marks the start of the third season of Year Six and introduces a new Attacker Operator, Osa, as well as other gameplay improvements and bug fixes. Those who don’t own the game but want to try it out can do so through the Free Access Weekend that’s due to start tomorrow, September 9.

Crystal Guard brings Anja “Osa” Janković into the fray. Specializing in electromechanics, military engineering and robotics, her unique ability is a deployable Talon-8 Clear Shield. Her technology skills were sought after by Rainbow Six to give them an edge in their battles, but now it sees like her skills are needed too if the new story trailer is anything to go by.

The update also adds a series of map changes for Clubhouse, Coastline, and Bank; more reliable flashbangs; the ability to combine Elite gear with other outfits; a price decrease for five Operators; kaleidoscopic weapon skins; and balance tweaks to several other current Operators. A full list of bug tweaks and gameplay improvements can be seen on the game’s official site.

A new Battle Pass will also begin with the update. This adds 100 tiers of rewards with free and premium tracks that will have a total of 133 rewards between them. A new reward introduced with this Battle Pass is the Battle Point Booster that gives a 20% increase in Battle Points earned for a limited time. The Premium Track will cost 1200 R6 Credits and will give immediate access to Osa. Those not purchasing the Premium Track will be able to unlock Osa with Renown or R6 Credits on September 21.

Those wanting to try before they buy can make use of a Free Access weekend for PS4 and PS5 that begins at 12am PDT tomorrow, September 9. All of the game’s modes and maps will be available to try, including the content added with Crystal Guard. If you decide to purchase the game after the trial period, your progress will carry over to the full game. To perhaps persuade you to buy the game, Ubisoft will be offering discounts of up to 80% from the PlayStation Store depending on which version of the game you choose to buy. These discounts will only be available throughout the free weekend and are not live now.
