The first phase of Babylon’s Fall‘s closed beta test took place on PC. With the report of that test now available, developer PlatinumGames and publisher Square Enix has announced the next phase of the beta. Phase 2 will take place on PlayStation 4 later this month, with dates depending on your region.
The aim of the beta is just to test the technical aspects of the game like the stress of large numbers of players on its servers. The test is just 2.5 hours in each region. Japan will go first on September 10, with the test scheduled to run between 7:30 PM and 10PM JST. The North America test will take place on the following day, September 11, between 7:30 PM and 10PM PDT. Finally, Europe’s test will happen between 7:30 PM and 10PM BST on September 13. Applications to take part in the beta closed on July 5 and those chosen to take part will be contacted by e-mail.
Due to the test’s focus on technical aspects, areas of the game like the initial story and tutorial will not be available. Players will instead arrive at the Sentinel Force Headquarters, the game’s base camp from where the main storyline and different quests will progress. characters can be created and basic equipment purchased from the vendors, but none of this data will be transferred to the main game upon its release — all players will start from scratch.
Those waiting to try out Babylon’s Fall on PlayStation 5 will have to wait a bit longer. PS5 will be added during the third phase of testing along with cross-platform play between consoles and PC. Phase 3 is currently scheduled for November. Players will also have to wait a bit longer for more news on the game. Babylon’s Fall will not be appearing at Tokyo Game Show. The next time we’ll get any details will be alongside the third phase of the beta test in November.
