Virtual-On PS4

Sega Will Bring These Three Virtual-On Games to PS4

In a Tanita official broadcast, Sega announced the company is porting the first three Virtual-On games to the PlayStation 4, as reported by Siliconera. These are Virtual On: Cyber Troopers, Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Oratorio Tangram, and Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Force.

These action games pit mechs against each other and are serious throwbacks. Virtual On: Cyber Troopers originally released in arcades and on the Sega Saturn back in 1995/1996. Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Oratorio Tangram made its debut in 1998 in arcades, appeared on the Dreamcast the following year, and came to the Xbox 360 in 2009. Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Force similarly got an arcade release in 2001 and was ported to Xbox 360 nine years later.

For those craving the arcade experience for these titles, you’re in luck. The Tanita Twin Stick controller is being crowdfunded again. This arcade stick will be compatible with all three titles. Tanita originally attempted this campaign “from June 8, 2010 to July 30, 2018,” but failed to meet the goal.

This time around, the company has tempered its expectations, with the goal being set for 1,000 units. The crowdfunding page has reached 927 backers and 80% of their financial target so far. Tanita will have until November 29, 2018 to reach the goal, so the chances are looking good.

With the announcement of these three ports, the PlayStation 4 will have no shortage of mech experiences.
