When Fortnite cross-play was finally enabled on the PlayStation 4, feelings of joy quickly turned to worry for some. While not being able to play with those on the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch was a big point of contention, others lamented the fact that Fortnite accounts linked to the PlayStation Network couldn’t be brought to other consoles. As a result of this, many had made separate accounts to use on competing consoles. Thankfully, Epic Games is offering solutions to these potential problems.
On the official Fortnite Twitter account, two major features were announced, with one much sooner than the other. Most notably, account merging will be coming to Fortnite sometime in November 2018. This will allow all purchases made across accounts to be combined into one single account. In more immediate news, it was also announced that Fortnite players will soon be able to link and unlink their accounts. While a specific launch date wasn’t announced, the feature was said to go live “in a few days.”
1) An account-merging feature to combine Battle Royale purchases, coming in November.
2) Enabling unlinking a console from one Fortnite account, and relinking to another Fortnite account. Coming in a few days.

When the unlinking feature is enabled, it will offer big change for Fortnite players. It sounds like players will soon be able to, for example, unlink the account tied to their PS4, and replace it with the account on their Switch.
Cross-play is coming just in time for the start of Season 6, which makes Fortnite decidedly more spooky.
