Yes, that’s a real WWE 2K19 screenshot. 2K Games dropped a new trailer for next month’s annual wrestling game, titled “The Phenomenal One” after its cover athlete, current WWE Champion AJ Styles. In the trailer, we see in-game footage of several wrestlers (just following recent roster reveal events), including many we haven’t seen in a WWE video game before. Kairi Sane and her ludicrous elbow drop, being a pretty solid example.
Also shown in the trailer are a couple intriguing gameplay reveals. One, the trailer starts in a creepy, outdoor environment, which could allude to one of two things. Either you can play a House of Horrors match, made infamous by last year’s Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton program, or it’s a take on the Ultimate Deletion match between Bray Wyatt and “Woken” Matt Hardy. It’s hard to tell exactly what’s going on with all the jump cuts, but Hardy is in the montage at one point. Either way, if that’s some kind of match type you can select, it will be interesting to see how that works in-game.
We also see some strange character/wrestler modifications. One of them is a very dry-skinned Triple H, wearing a crown. We only see his back, so it’s unclear if he’s supposed to be a zombie or something. We also see multiple clips of wrestlers sporting Goldeneye 64-like giant heads, so that’s probably some sort of goofy setting as well.
That’s a lot going on for a WWE 2K trailer! Watch it just above and let us know what you think.
