SuperData: No Man’s Sky Raked an Estimated $24 Million in July 2018, Overwatch Revenue Has Declined

It’s no secret that No Man’s Sky‘s NEXT update breathed new life into the polarizing game that was initially panned by users for broken promises. Back in July, Sean Murray revealed that No Man’s Sky was one of the most played games in the world across all platforms in the week following NEXT’s release, and a new SuperData report corroborates his statement.

According to the market intelligence firm, July 2018 was No Man’s Sky‘s best month since launch, during which it raked an estimated $24 million across all platforms. More than two million players were actively playing the game in July, which amounts to a 10x increase from June.

July was also a great month for Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto Online. The unstoppable title had its best month of 2018 following its After Hours update. According to SuperData’s estimates, July was the second-best month for GTA Online since launch (December 2017 remains the top month).

Elsewhere in its report, the firm revealed that despite an increase in monthly active users, Overwatch‘s additional content revenue has declined year-on-year across all platforms, continuing a downward trend that kicked off in June 2018.

Meanwhile, Fortnite‘s revenue increased by a meager two percent since June despite the release of Season 5 Battle Pass.
