Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice Sales Reach 1 Million Milestone

Hellblade Senuas Sacrifice sales

The good news keeps rolling in for developer Ninja Theory. Not too long after announcing the acquisition that will see them exclusively develop games for Microsoft platforms, the studio reveals their tentpole title Hellblade has sold one million units. This milestone takes into account sales across PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Ninja Theory’s announcement of their latest achievement comes via the studio’s official Twitter page.

Hellblade’s release in August 2017 on PC and PlayStation 4 garnered immense acclaim. Its launch on Xbox One this past April put the title back in the spotlight. Though there are arguably gameplay shortcomings, the story, character, and world building are all masterful. Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice tells a compelling narrative about the struggle of managing mental health. Players experience Senua’s psychosis through impeccable sound design and a haunting trek through a Norse setting.

To date, the game has won BAFTA, TIGA, D.I.C.E. awards and several more for performance, audio design, game design, and innovation. It’s fitting that the developer is receiving commercial success from Hellblade as well. Here is to hoping they reach two million downloads soon.
