With Fallout 76 officially announced and the game getting more and more information as time goes on, players are beginning to finally learn about the upcoming “always online” survival game. In a recent documentary by NoClip (above) on the making the game, Bethesda revealed that while there would be microtransactions in the game, they would be used strictly to purchase cosmetic items that were already attainable by playing the game.
According to Bethesda, the microtransactions will serve as a way to keep dedicates servers up and running, and also help fund the free DLC and updates that Bethesda has planned for the game. Despite the inclusion of microtransactions – an action that will no doubt draw some anger from fans – Bethesda has promised that free updates will be coming for “years” to Fallout 76, which makes it sound like they’ll be working on this game for as long as many can imagine.
After teasing the game for about a month, Bethesda finally unveiled Fallout 76 to the world at E3 2018, and it not only marks a new chapter in the Fallout series, but a more ambitious journey for Bethesda as a whole. Acting as a fully online game, the company not only has to now worry about things like players briefing each other but keeping players happy over a much longer period of time. Of course, that might not be a problem for such a beloved company like Bethesda, but only time will tell if they can succeed at it. In the meantime, let us know below if you’re excited about Fallout 76.
Fallout 76 is set to launch on November 14, 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
