Crystal Dynamics Celebrates Its 25th Anniversary With Video

Today, Crystal Dynamics released a new video celebrating their 25-year history as a studio. In that time span, the developers have crafted some of the most world renowned games of our time, including the Tomb Raider franchise. Obviously, such a milestone year is worth celebrating, and the video below highlights some of the achievements of the company while also giving us a chance to get to know some of the faces behind the games.

The development team began its 25th year in a newly redesigned facility that, according to Crystal Dynamics, features a fully equipped motion capture stage, six soundproof audio rooms, a full 4K HDR Dolby Atmos equipped theater, and much more. The studio has also shared that in their 25 years of existence, they have developed and published over 30 award-winning titles and were behind the helm of many famous franchises, including Gex, Legacy of Rain, and of course, Tomb Raider. Crystal Dynamics will also be collaborating with Marvel to work on an Avengers project, which was announced earlier this year.

“Crystal occupies a special place in the games industry. Over a third of our team have been with the studio for more than 5 years, and several have been here for more than 20 years, which makes us a tightly knitted team,” said Ron Rosenberg, Head of Studio. “Over the years, many industry luminaries have worked at Crystal and contributed to the creative culture that our current rock star developers embody and evolve. From the very beginning, we’ve shared a common goal of crafting incredible character-driven games, and 25 years later that flame of innovation burns brighter than ever.”

If you’re a fan of the gaming industry and the inner workings behind it, the video above is definitely well worth a watch. Too often the people behind our favorite games are forgotten about, and it’s good to see a studio like Crystal Dynamics taking initiative and giving them the spotlight.
