Stardew Valley is Headed to the PS Vita Next Year

Great news today for PS Vita owners, as the team behind Stardew Valley has announced today that the farming RPG is headed to the portable console at some point next year. In the studio’s update blog, ConcernedApe revealed that a lot of people had been curious about the PS Vita port that they mentioned earlier this year, and now it’s finally here:

A number of people have been curious about the PS Vita port we mentioned way back in January, and I’m happy to announce that a PS Vita port is actually happening! It’ll be available next year, and it’ll have cross-buy too, so if you’ve got Stardew Valley on Playstation 4 you won’t need to buy it again to play it on your PS Vita! However, it’s worth noting that we can’t port the multiplayer update to PS Vita.

Of course, not only will the game be coming to the Vita, but it will feature cross-buy too, so if you already own the game on the PlayStation 4, you won’t even have to buy it again for your Vita. The developers also announced that more language support is incoming, and the studio is also still working on a multiplayer update to the game, although that won’t be able to get ported over to the PS Vita.

Stardew Valley represents a major break from reality. It’s a game where things are simple, but there’s always something new to do. It’s a collector’s haven; a lover’s respite (at least until co-op arrives in the future). This will represent many things to many gamers. Yet the one thing it will remain for as long as people are around to play it, is a magnum opus of the indie developer. Stardew Valley is a game so completely full of content, that it is hard to fathom that it was created by a single person. With a ton of secrets to discover, and fishing, farming, mining, smelting, and even dating as activity options, this feels like a perfect mix of life simulation games of the past, with a decidedly modern take. Hopefully ConcernedApe continues in his relentless march to build the perfect game for this genre, and we can all share in the fruits of his tireless labor.

Stardew Valley is available now on the PlayStation 4.
