next danganronpa game

Spike Chunsoft is Hiring Staff for a Danganronpa Action Title

Spike Chunsoft is hiring, and they’re hiring for the next Danganronpa title! The company posted three new jobs–a Game Programmer, Character Designer, and 3D Designer–that are meant to mainly work on Danganronpa, most specifically character modelling and texture creation. While these listings are of course in Japanese, we have Gematsu to thank for translations on some interesting snippets of these listings.

The first interesting thing is the platforms listed for the new Danganronpa game. The job listing has PlayStation 4, Vita, and etc. While the title being on Sony systems is no surprise, the “etc” means we might see it on other systems. PC seems like a good bet, considering the series has made the jump to Steam, but will we being seeing Danganronpa elsewhere?

Secondly, there’s the genre listed. The next Danganronpa game’s genre is set as action. The games are usually visual novels, but the spin-off title, Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls, was an action shooter game that took the series in a very different direction. Judging by the genre and the need for the new workers to focus on 3D character modelling, it seems most likely that the new title will be another spin-off episode.

This job listing comes hot on the trail of the release of Danganronpa V3, the latest mainline game in the series. Check out our review:

I love stories and plots that revolve around impossible decisions. The Prisoner’s Dilemma is a fascinating bit of game theory that really ups the stakes of human psychology and sociology. Balancing trust and self-preservation is something that we all deal with on a daily basis, whether in our professional or personal lives. Films like Battle Royale are horrifyingly intriguing to me, taking caricatures and stereotypes and placing them within primal life and death scenarios. This is the premise of the Danganronpa series.

Are you hoping for Yet Another Episode?
